OGADENIA Couture celebra el centenario del Calado Canario
Cuenta la historia, que los comienzos del calado Canario se remonta a 1918, donde un grupo de señoras canarias comenzaron a crear dibujos en las vestimentas folclóricas y enseres del hogar para enriquecer la calidad del tejido.
Este oficio artesano, del calado canario, se realiza sobre un tejido noble, y su proceso consiste en deshilar a mano la trama y la urdimbre del tejido hasta dejarlos prácticamente vacíos. Posteriormente se rellenan los huecos que han quedado en el tejido a base de bordarles dibujos que evocan maravillas de la naturaleza, del cosmo y figuras geométricas o simbólicas, todo esto de forma 100% artesanal.
Desde hace 10 años, la firma OGADENIA Couture ha innovado al introducir esta Artesania centenaria en los diseños de Alta Costura y Pret à Couture.

OGADENIA Couture celebrates the centenary of the handmade “Calado Canario”
The calado canario is a traditional sewing technique whose beginning dates back to 1918. At that time, a group of ladies from the Canary Islands began to carefully sew images on typical Canarian folklore customes as well as on a variety of household cloths, both for decoration and for enhancing the quality and value of the fabrics.
The craft “Calado Canario” is finely sewn on high-quality material, the whole process consisting of fraying empty areas on cloth following a particular design. These empty areas are later embroidered to reflect geometric and symbolic figures, but also cosmological images and other wonders of the world. The whole work is the result of a laborious and meticulous process, which makes every piece unique.
For nothing less than 10 years, OGADENIA Couture has decidedly brought tradition and innovation to high standards by incorporating the uniqueness of this centenary Canarian sewing art to Haute Couture and Pret a Couture dresses.
